The Woodlands Coronavirus Update

 

A third death has been reported due to the novel coronavirus (aka COVID-19) at The Conservatory at Alden Bridge in The Woodlands, Tx highlights a growing issue as the epidemic continues; a lack of medical equipment. As the locksmith Woodlands residents trust, we’ve decided to continue our security coverage on COVID-19 and discussing a new program they have begun to put in place.

The Woodlands Coronavirus Situation At Alden Bridge

On March 30th, a senior living facility in The Woodlands, Texas that is not classified as a nursing home or assisted living center had its first confirmed coronavirus diagnosis. Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough immediately issued his first order that no one besides law enforcement, medical personnel, and maintenance staff were to enter or leave the building until April 13th. Since an individual was first diagnosed at the facility, all communal dining and recreation were stopped, and residents were asked to stay in their apartments.

By the afternoon of April 1st, 2 men living at Alden were dead due to COVID-19, one aged in his 80’s and one in his 90’s. By 5:15 p.m. there was a confirmed third death due to the same complications with the novel coronavirus. It was another man in his 80’s, The Montgomery County Public Health District announced.

This disease may not be deadly to all people, but it has spread throughout our community and nation like wildfire. Those susceptible to it have suffered everything from cough and mild fever to pneumonia and organ failure.

It’s important now more than ever that our healthcare workers remain safe, and despite the tragedy of these deaths and supply shortages, they do have a plan to keep them as healthy as possible.

The Woodlands Delivers Much Needed Supplies

We’ll not be discussing ventilators and other larger machines necessary by hospitals overwhelmed in most cities by the virus, but something that is just as important. Personal protective equipment (or PPE as it is commonly known) is going through shortages in both Montgomery and Harris counties. That’s why the Woodlands Township board of directors is launching the “Help Our Heroes” donation program.

The program will accept medical PPE and supplies such as Disinfectant spray, germicidal wipes, and paper towels, surgical and N95 masks, face shields, gloves, reusable eyewear and goggles, hair covers, isolation gowns, PAPR hoods, and shoe covers at the Woodlands Central Fire Station off of Grogan’s Mill Rd. 

All donations will be handled by the Township and will be sent on for distribution by the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

If you have any of the supplies listed previously, the station will be accepting donations for this program between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.
